Put them in a different order, but same final three make it to the end in back to back months. Congrats, guys! Steve C. leaps into 2nd place with these two strong performances.
Next month is the Shoe's High Stake month, and it starts at 3pm on August 7th.

First time winner!

Kevin uses his new dad mojo and not only manages to survive several bad beats, but finally wins a Shoe tournament. Congrats! Ed misses a game, and Steve C. and Scott both take advantage of that to catch up to him in the points race. While first place is starting to look unobtainable, all other positions are still being fought over.

Mayhem in May

Last minute rule changes caused some confusion this month, but players eventually settled in for this month's tournament. Congratulations to Todd, who shows up for the first time this year and wins it. He continues his record percentage of cashing and winning more than anyone else at the Shoe. Both he and Scott arrived late, and managed to cash without the 2,000 in bonus chips.
Mike D. finishes in 6th place, and maintains his 80 point lead on the field. Scott jumps up above Steve to move into 3rd place overall.

Mid-Season Rule Changes
April 30, 2010
Starting tomorrow, the Shoe is going to only be hosting one game per month. Start time is now 4pm, and the buy-in is now $180. Since we will now only have 15 games this year, players will only be able to drop 1 game. 13 games will count in total. Players will start with 10,000 in chips.

Easter might have kept a lot of players away this month, with 14 players making Game 1 and only 8 remaining for Game 2. Congrats to Orfilio and Rob M. for this months' wins. Mike D. now has an 80 point lead on the rest of the field. Let's see if he can stay there.

Mike D continues to roll

Mike D. puts up yet another great showing, getting heads up in both games, but losing to newcomer Joe Z., who wins his first at the Shoe. Joe won Game 1 despite not getting the bonus chips for early arrival. Congrats!
In Game 2, Mike D. and Scott both were short stacked when play got to 5 handed, but both managed to hang on and get heads up. Mike took care of Scott quickly, and won his second game of the year.

At least this time, as we had a full house show up despite the huge drifts of snow. Ed and Mike D. pick up where they left off in January, only this time Ed takes the win after a extremely long three way battle that included Steve C. Game 2 went into the wee hours, with Mike C. and Scott battling back and forth until 1:45am.

Another New Rule

Due to the considerable amount of garbage and empty drink containers being left around the room, all players will be required to clean up after Game 1. Game 2 will not begin until all trash is properly disposed of. We also ask that you please throw away your trash as you finish Game 2.

New Rule Change
January 11, 2010
Game 1 has not been starting on time due to late arrivals. To correct the problem, the following rule is now in effect for the first game of every month. Starting chips will be 7,000 regardless of the number of players for Game 1. If you arrive and are in the room by 12:45, you will receive 3,000 in bonus chips. A official clock will be placed on the wall by the door. If you enter at 12:46, you will not receive the bonus chips.
Chips for Game 2 will be determined as per the Shoe's standard rules.

2009 Freeroll

2009 Season Finale

Congratulations to Rob M. for finishing the year with a 9 point lead to earn 2009 Player of the Year. Also congratulations to Alan and Mike C. for finishing second and third. This is Rob & Mike's first time in the top three, and Alan's third time in five years. December's freeroll starts at noon on Dec 12th. The POY awards ceremony will be done before the start of the freeroll.

We had a low turnout for game 1 this month, but we still some fun poker. Guy took another second place, allowing him to stay close to Rob and Mike C.. Art missed his first game in the five-year history of the Shoe, making Alan the player with the most games.

Alan, yet again

Something about this time of year just works for Alan. Last year, he won 4 in a row during August and September, for 5 total with a June win. This year, he's won one in June, one in July, and both again in September. He leaps over Mike D. to take over second place.

For yet another month, Mike C. continues to climb the ladder, playing impressively and winning the High Stakes game. He moves into 4th overall. Rob takes 5th place in both games, widening his lead. Guy moves into second, and also leads the league in average position for the year (and overall).

High Stakes Night

August is High Stakes Night at the Shoe. Game 1 starts two hours earlier, at 11am. Players start with 10,000 chips, and blinds increase at 30 minute intervals instead of the normal 22 minutes. This is the Shoe's premiere game of the year. Game 2 is the standard buy-in, which will start as soon as Game 1 ends.

Summer belongs to Mike and Alan

Mike C. and Alan continue to play tag, winning this month's games as well as last month's. Rob manages another second place finish, leaping over Mike D. to take the points lead. Guy continues to stay with the two leaders, managing the same amount of cashes so far this year. The top three players have cashed an impressive 6 times each in 14 games (12 for Mike).

Mike C. takes June

Congrats to Mike C., as he took an early lead in game 1. Despite getting low on chips, he managed to double up several times while heads up and win game 1. He also kept his "New Mike" style in game 2, managing a third place finish. Mike D. manages another second place finish, despite hitting the bars between games.
